A very strong and flavoursome spice from Indonesia, nutmegs have been traded and used for centuries. Traditionally used in sweet dishes like custard, apple pies, and mulled wine, nutmeg can also enhance many savoury dishes too – why not try adding a fresh grating to your next Italian ragu sauce?

One whole nutmeg grated equals 2-3 teaspoons of ground nutmeg.
